The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is DJI’s flagship folding camera drone, launched on 13 May 2025 with a 100 MP Four Thirds Hasselblad main camera, a 70 mm medium telephoto and a 168 mm telephoto on a gimbal that rotates 360° for vertical shooting, and 51 minutes of flight time. It weighs about 1,063 g, which puts it in the registration and Remote ID bracket in every market.

DJI did not launch it in the United States and has not since. It went on sale in Europe and elsewhere at €2,099 for the aircraft with the RC 2 controller; American buyers who want one are buying from third-party sellers, and DJI’s US position, set out below, is the reason.

Three cameras on a folding drone is not new; the Mavic 3 Pro had three. What is new is the sensor behind the main lens: 100 MP on Four Thirds is a step up from the 20 MP Four Thirds in the Mavic 3 series, and the telephoto sensor has grown too. The gimbal’s rotation is the other change. It turns the whole camera through 90° rather than cropping a vertical frame out of a horizontal one.

Use Cases

Commercial photography and video where the client expects the best image a drone can produce without moving to a heavy-lift platform. Landscape and architectural work where the 168 mm telephoto lets the pilot stay far from the subject. Anyone who shoots vertical for social platforms and is tired of cropping.

Market Context

This is the drone at the top of the best personal drone guide’s camera ranking and the one it cannot recommend to an American reader. DJI is on the FCC Covered List, which since 22 December 2025 has blocked new equipment authorisations for anything the company makes. The Mavic 4 Pro was launched seven months before that, was never listed in the US, and DJI has given no timeline for it. A buyer taking a third-party listing relies on the seller for warranty and support.

For an American buyer the nearest answers are the Mavic 3 Pro, which DJI still lists in the US, though it was out of stock there on 29 September 2026, with the previous Four Thirds sensor and the same three-camera idea, and the Air 3S, which gives up the Four Thirds sensor and the long telephoto for a 724 g aircraft at about half the price.

At 1,063 g the Mavic 4 Pro sits above the 900 g line that separates the EU’s C1 and C2 classes, and in the US it needs registration and Remote ID. None of that is unusual for a drone of this size; it is only unusual next to the sub-250 g Minis that carry the same brand.
