French manufacturer DRONE VOLT has confirmed five major industrial clients for its LineDrone platform, a drone built to operate directly on extra-high-voltage power lines ranging from 315kV to 735kV. The company reports a 100% operational success rate across all deployments, with active operations in North America and expansion planned in Europe and Australia.
The addressable market is structurally large. The International Energy Agency estimates more than 80 million kilometers of power lines exist globally, backed by $300 to $400 billion in annual grid investment. Conventional high-voltage line operations require multiple helicopters, large ground crews, and direct human exposure to risk. The LineDrone removes crew exposure from the line entirely.
What the Platform Does
Originally an inspection tool, the LineDrone now covers four operational categories: extra-high-voltage line inspection and anomaly detection; bird strike protection via anti-collision device deployment; energy optimization through conductive coating application on live lines; and smart grid instrumentation via Dynamic Line Rating sensor installation.
The coating application is the most technically unusual claim. Applying material to live 735kV lines without taking them offline is not achievable through conventional methods. DRONE VOLT has not published independent validation of this capability at maximum voltage, but five active client deployments suggest operational function under real conditions.
Market Timing
Grid modernization is accelerating across Europe and North America under energy security pressure. The European Commission’s SafeLines4Birds program represents an estimated 3 to 8 billion euros over ten years for anti-collision compliance on transmission infrastructure, a segment where the LineDrone is already active.
DRONE VOLT is listed on Euronext Growth in Paris under ticker ALDRV, with existing clients including the French Army, Engie, Total, and Bouygues ES. First-quarter 2026 revenue figures are due April 15.
