Antigravity A1

The first drone with a built-in 8K 360-degree camera, flown through goggles and a one-hand grip rather than sticks, at 249 g. New enough that nobody has flown it for a year, and $1,599 buys a way of flying as much as an aircraft.

The Antigravity A1 is a 249 g folding drone with two fisheye lenses, one on top and one underneath, that together record 8K video in every direction at once. There is no gimbal and no framing: the aircraft captures the whole sphere and the operator picks the shot afterwards. It went on sale on 4 December 2025 at $1,599 with goggles and a one-hand controller in the box, from Antigravity, a brand set up by Insta360.

That makes it the first consumer drone in years to arrive with a new idea rather than a better sensor, which is why the buying guide lists it as the best new idea of 2026 rather than the best drone.

The lenses sit above and below the body so the aircraft’s own arms stay out of the frame. The output is a 360-degree sphere: reframing to a normal 16:9 video is done in the app after landing, which is the trade for never having to point the camera in flight.

The A1 is flown through the goggles, which Antigravity says let the pilot look around the live sphere without turning the aircraft, and steered with a single-hand grip that tilts rather than a two-stick controller. That is closer to an FPV headset than to a camera drone, and the learning curve runs the other way from a Mini: easier to look around, less familiar to fly precisely.

Use Cases

Travel and creator video where the shot is decided in the edit. Anyone who wants an immersive flight rather than a framed one. Not the drone for mapping, inspection or anything that needs a stabilised long lens.

Market Context

At 249 g with the standard battery the A1 sits under the 250 g registration line in the United States and Canada; fit the high-capacity battery and it is a 291 g aircraft that needs registering there too, the same trade the DJI Mini 5 Pro forces. The EU registers any camera drone whatever it weighs, and Britain and Japan register from 100 g.

It went on sale in the United States on 4 December 2025, from Antigravity’s own store and retailers, eighteen days before the FCC added every foreign-made drone to its Covered List. Aircraft authorised before that date stay legal to sell and fly, so the A1 is on American shelves where the Mini 5 Pro is not. It is a Chinese product all the same, and it draws the 25 percent Section 232 duty on import since 3 September 2026; Antigravity’s US store quoted $1,599, $1,899 and $1,999 for the three bundles in September 2026, shipped from US warehouses, and does not say whether the price absorbs the duty.
